Welcome to the Miami Design District
The Miami Design District is a neighborhood dedicated to innovative fashion, design, architecture and dining experiences. Where culture happens! Our flagship restaurant has been part of its growth along the way, since opening in 2007. Now known for its sleek modern architecture, fashion and lifestyle boutiques and public art dotting the area including the Fly’s Eye Dome, a geodesic dome designed by inventor Buckminster Fuller. In addition to the Institute of Contemporary Art, our neighbors include two other The Genuine Hospitality Group restaurants — Palm Court’s Ella Pop Café and the original location of Harry’s Pizzeria, our cool outlier on North Miami Avenue for chef Michael Schwartz’s wood fired pizzas and a menu of colorful salads, snacks and entrées to enjoy with it.
MICHAEL’S GENUINE MENU
We’ve grown a lot in the past 12 years and our menu changes daily, but not much has changed! It’s about delicious food presented in a straightforward way. With a year round growing season in Miami to work with, we cultivate relationships with local farms and sometimes source product that we can’t find nearby. Local seafood is really important to us, and we work with our network of fisherman to flow with the seasonality of our fisheries — sourcing black grouper, spanish mackerel and Florida stone crab when we can and give a platform for lesser known species that are delicious in their own right, like black fin tuna, tilefish, and tripletail.
Our approach to making things taste and look great is to see what we can take away, not add. It’s not about using a bunch of different sauces, rather finding a balance in contrasting textures, colors and temperatures.
Dillion Wolff, the Chef de Cuisine, at Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink in Miami has worked for the Genuine Hospitality Group for 5 years. He grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida and started working in restaurants at age 16 as an expo/food runner. After High School, he attended Johnson & Wales at their North Miami campus and graduated with a bachelors degree in culinary arts and food service management.
Dillion’s middle name is actually Michaels (Dillion Michaels Wolff) so joining Michael’s Genuine seemed destined to happen. His favorite item on the Michael’s menu is the Stracciatella “it’s the epitome of Michael’s on a plate. Consists of local ingredients that are at their peak and we allow them to shine by just preparing them simply.” Outside of work Dillon likes to relax, watch football and eat tacos.
EVENTS AT MICHAEL’S GENUINE
The flagship restaurant of The Genuine Hospitality Group, Michael’s Genuine provides the best kind of energy for your next gathering – vibrant when you want it and more nuanced for intimate occasions. Feel the warm hospitality and make yourself at home. We’ll take care of the rest, especially the memorably delicious food!
During these challenging times, we’re still able to host private gatherings in our restaurant spaces. Although there are restrictions, we’re finding creative ways to welcome you and your guests in a fun, genuine, and (most importantly) safe, way.
Michael’s Genuine can accommodate festivities as a full restaurant buyout or separately in its bar room, main dining room, or outside patio for lunch, brunch and dinner.
Reach Special Events Manager Kimberly Ocampo for customizable menus and to book at email@example.com or call (305) 898-1212.
Gift cards to Michael’s Genuine are always a welcome present. Give someone the gift of good taste.
